Trisha Yearwood Apple Dumplings
Ingredients:
2 large apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work well)
1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
1 cup sugar
1 cup Mountain Dew (or similar lemon-lime soda)
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ cup butter (1 stick)
Optional: Caramel sauce for drizzling
Directions:
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Prepare the Apples:
Peel, core, and slice the apples into wedges. Set aside.
Roll the Apples:
Open the crescent roll dough and separate it into individual triangles. Place a wedge of apple at the wide end of each triangle and roll it up, starting from the wide end. Pinch the edges to seal.
Arrange in Baking Dish:
Place the rolled apple dumplings in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
Make the Sauce:
In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted, stir in the sugar and cinnamon until combined. Gradually stir in the Mountain Dew until well mixed. Bring to a simmer and then remove from heat.
Pour Sauce Over Dumplings:
Pour the sauce evenly over the dumplings in the baking dish.
Bake:
Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the dumplings are golden brown and bubbly.
Serve:
Allow to cool slightly before serving. Drizzle with caramel sauce if desired. These are delicious on their own or served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!
