Steak and Cheese Garlic Toast Recipe
Ingredients:
1 pound steak (ribeye, sirloin, or flank), thinly sliced
4 slices of thick garlic bread (store-bought or homemade)
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 small onion, thinly sliced
1/2 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
1/2 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
Salt and pepper, to taste
4 slices provolone cheese or shredded mozzarella
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
Chopped fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
Prepare the garlic bread:
Toast the garlic bread according to package instructions or until golden brown and crisp. Set aside.
Cook the steak:
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced steak, salt, and pepper, cooking for about 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
Sauté the vegetables:
In the same skillet, add the onion, bell peppers, and garlic, cooking for about 5 minutes until softened. Add a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes if desired.
Combine the steak and vegetables:
Return the cooked steak to the skillet, mixing it with the sautéed onions and peppers. Cook for another 2 minutes to warm through.
Assemble the garlic toast:
Place the cooked garlic bread on a baking sheet. Top each slice with the steak and pepper mixture, then lay a slice of provolone cheese or a generous amount of shredded mozzarella over each.
Melt the cheese:
Broil in the oven on high for 1-2 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Watch closely to prevent burning.
Serve:
Garnish with chopped parsley if desired, and serve the Steak and Cheese Garlic Toast immediately.
