Slow Cooker Cracker Barrel Fried Apples Recipe

Slow Cooker Cracker Barrel Fried Apples Recipe

Ingredients:
6 large apples (Granny Smith or Golden Delicious), peeled, cored, and sliced
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
1/4 cup unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 cup apple juice or apple cider

Instructions:
Prepare the Apples:
Place the sliced apples in the slow cooker.
Add Sugar and Spices:
In a small bowl, mix together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and allspice. Sprinkle the sugar and spice mixture over the apples, ensuring they are evenly coated.
Add Butter and Liquid:
Dot the apples with the pieces of butter. Drizzle the lemon juice and apple juice (or cider) over the top.
Cook:
Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours, or until the apples are tender but not mushy. Stir gently halfway through cooking to ensure even cooking and coating of the apples.
Serve:
Once cooked, serve the fried apples warm. They pair wonderfully with breakfast dishes like pancakes and waffles, or as a sweet side for pork dishes. They can also be enjoyed as a dessert with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
