Sloppy Joe Casserole Recipe

Ingredients:
For the Meat Mixture:
1 lb ground beef
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
1/2 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon mustard
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon chili powder (optional)
Salt and pepper, to taste
For the Casserole:
1 can refrigerated biscuit dough or 1 cup homemade biscuit mix
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)

Directions:
Prepare the Meat Mixture:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned and crumbled. Drain excess fat.
Add the chopped onion, green bell pepper, and garlic to the skillet. Cook until the vegetables are tender, about 5 minutes.
Stir in the tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, mustard, paprika, chili powder (if using), salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld. Adjust seasoning if necessary.
Assemble the Casserole:
If using refrigerated biscuit dough, cut each biscuit into quarters. Alternatively, prepare the homemade biscuit mix according to package instructions and spread it into the bottom of the casserole dish.
In a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, spread the meat mixture evenly.
Arrange the biscuit pieces or dough over the top of the meat mixture.
Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the biscuits.
Bake:
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the biscuit topping is golden brown and cooked through, and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Garnish and Serve:
Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.
Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired.
