Saltwater Slime Recipe

Saltwater Slime Recipe
Ingredients:
– 1 (4 oz) bottle of clear school glue
– 1/2 cup warm water
– 1/2 tsp sea salt or table salt
– 1/2 tsp baking soda
– Blue food coloring or liquid watercolor
– 1 tbsp saline solution (contact lens solution with boric acid)
– Optional: glitter, mini seashells, plastic ocean animals, blue beads
– Sensory bin or shallow tray for play

Directions:
1. Mix the base: Start by pouring the clear school glue into a mixing bowl. Add in 1/2 cup of warm water and a few drops of blue food coloring or liquid watercolor. Stir the mixture together until it is well combined.
2. Incorporate salt and baking soda: Add 1/2 tsp of sea salt and 1/2 tsp of baking soda to the glue mixture. Stir until both ingredients are completely dissolved and the mixture is smooth.
3. Activate the slime: Gradually add 1 tbsp of saline solution to the bowl while continuously mixing. As you stir, you’ll notice the slime beginning to form. Keep mixing and start kneading it with your hands until it pulls away from the sides of the bowl and has a gooey consistency.
4. Customize your slime: If desired, mix in some glitter, mini seashells, blue beads, or plastic ocean animals to your slime for added texture and fun. Incorporate these items gently until they’re evenly distributed.
5. Transfer to the bin: Spoon your finished saltwater slime into a plastic sensory tray or shallow bin. Set out some scoops, tools, or toys, allowing kids to stretch, swirl, and squish their ‘slime sea’!

Tips & Variations:
– For extra stretchiness, make sure to knead the slime thoroughly until it reaches your desired consistency.
– Experiment with different colors and textures by using various food coloring and additional mix-ins, like foam balls or larger seashells, to create a unique slime experience.
