Ingredients:
For the Cupcakes:
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
For the Salted Caramel Cream Cheese Frosting:
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/4 cup salted caramel sauce (plus extra for drizzling)
2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Pinch of sea salt
Instructions:
For the Cupcakes:
Preheat the oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 12-cup muffin tin with cupcake liners.
Mix dry ingredients:
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
Cream butter and sugar:
In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
Add eggs:
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, followed by the vanilla extract.
Combine wet and dry ingredients:
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
Fill the cupcake liners:
Divide the batter evenly among the cupcake liners, filling each about 2/3 full.
Bake:
Bake for 18-22 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a cupcake comes out clean. Let them cool in the tin for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
For the Frosting:
Cream together the butter and cream cheese:
In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter until smooth and creamy.
Add the caramel and powdered sugar:
Add the salted caramel sauce and powdered sugar, one cup at a time, until smooth and fluffy. Add vanilla extract and a pinch of sea salt for that perfect balance of flavors.
Frost the cupcakes:
Once the cupcakes have cooled, generously frost each one with the salted caramel cream cheese frosting.
Add a final drizzle:
Drizzle extra salted caramel sauce over the frosting and sprinkle with a little more sea salt for an extra decadent touch.
💡 Tips:
For an extra burst of flavor, you can fold some caramel bits into the cupcake batter before baking.
If you want a richer caramel flavor, use a homemade salted caramel sauce instead of store-bought.
