Popsicle Stick Dragonflies
Ingredients:
1 popsicle stick (jumbo or regular size)
2 small craft sticks or clothespin halves (for wings)
Glue (hot glue or tacky glue for kids)
Googly eyes
Paint, markers, or glitter glue
Optional: sequins, pipe cleaners, pom-poms, gems, washi tape
Directions:
1. Decorate the Body: Begin by painting or coloring the popsicle stick in your favorite dragonfly color. You can use paint, markers, or glitter glue. Add designs such as stripes, dots, or stickers to give it an extra flair.
2. Add Wings: Take 2 small craft sticks or cut clothespin halves to create the dragonfly’s wings. Paint or color them to match or contrast with the body. Once dry, glue them in an ‘X’ shape across the top of the popsicle stick. Ensure they are secure and balanced for a proper wing formation.
3. Attach Eyes: Now, take the googly eyes and glue them to the front/top of the popsicle stick. This will make your dragonfly look lively and fun!
4. Optional Accessories: If you like, you can add even more personality to your dragonfly by attaching pipe cleaner antennae at the top, adding sequins along the wings, or gluing pom-poms onto the tail for a textural effect.
Tips & Variations:
1. Experiment with different colors and patterns to create a variety of dragonflies that can be used for decoration or as gifts.
2. Consider using different materials for the wings, like fabric or tissue paper, to create unique textures and designs.
