Plastic Lid Suncatchers
Ingredients:
– 4–6 clean plastic lids (from yogurt, sour cream, or takeaway containers – clear or translucent preferred)
– 1–2 bottles of clear school glue (like Elmer’s Clear Glue)
– Sequins, glitter, beads, or tissue paper scraps (assorted colors)
– Optional: Pressed flowers, stickers, or confetti
– String, ribbon, or suction cup hooks (for hanging)
– Toothpick or craft stick (for spreading)
– Hole punch or skewer (for hanging hole)
– Wax paper or foil-lined tray (to protect surfaces)
Directions:
1. Prep Your Surface: Start by laying out wax paper or lining a tray with foil to catch any glue drips. Position your plastic lids open-side up.
2. Fill with Glue: Squeeze the clear glue into each lid, creating a thin, even layer that fully covers the bottom.
3. Decorate!: While the glue is still wet, get creative and sprinkle on sequins, glitter, beads, or tissue paper pieces. You can also add pressed flowers or arrange small shapes for fun patterns or pictures.
4. Spread if Needed: Use a toothpick or craft stick to gently move items around or spread the glue evenly if necessary.
5. Dry Completely: Allow the glue to dry undisturbed for 24–48 hours. It should dry completely clear and peelable. Keep in mind that drying time may vary based on humidity and thickness.
6. Punch & Hang: Once dry, carefully peel the glue suncatcher out of the lid. Use a hole punch or skewer to make a hole near the edge. Tie with string or hang using a suction hook in a sunny window.
Tips & Variations:
– Experiment with different materials for decoration. Try using leaf cut-outs, fabric pieces, or even dried herbs for a unique touch.
– For a more three-dimensional effect, layer your decorations by adding more glue and materials on top of a dried layer
