📝 Ingredients
-
1 green bell pepper, sliced
-
1 medium onion, sliced
-
1 teaspoon garlic salt
-
1 lb steak (ribeye, sirloin, or your choice), thinly sliced
-
1–2 cups shredded cheddar or provolone cheese
-
1–2 tbsp oil (for sautéing)
-
1 bag frozen waffle fries (or homemade fries)
-
Salt and black pepper, to taste
-
Optional toppings: sliced jalapeños, sour cream, or green onions
👩🍳 Instructions
-
Prepare the Fries
Cook waffle fries according to package instructions until crispy. Alternatively, bake homemade fries at 425°F (220°C) for 25–30 minutes until golden. -
Sauté the Veggies
In a large skillet over medium heat, add oil. Sauté sliced onions and bell peppers with garlic salt for 5–7 minutes until softened and slightly caramelized. Remove and set aside. -
Cook the Steak
In the same skillet, increase heat to medium-high. Season thinly sliced steak with salt and pepper, then cook for 2–3 minutes per side until browned and just cooked through. -
Assemble the Fries
Spread cooked fries on a serving platter or sheet pan. Top with sautéed onions, bell peppers, and cooked steak. Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly over the top. -
Melt the Cheese
Place under the broiler for 2–3 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly. Keep an eye to prevent burning.
