Philly Cheesesteak Stromboli

Philly Cheesesteak Stromboli

Ingredients:
1 pound pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
1/2 pound thinly sliced ribeye steak or deli roast beef
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 small onion, thinly sliced
1 small green bell pepper, thinly sliced
1 small red bell pepper, thinly sliced
1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)
1 cup shredded provolone cheese
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Directions:
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Cook the Steak and Vegetables:
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat.
Add the sliced onion, green bell pepper, red bell pepper, and mushrooms (if using). Sauté until the vegetables are tender, about 5-7 minutes.
Add the sliced ribeye steak or deli roast beef to the skillet.
Season with Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Cook until the steak is browned and cooked through, about 3-4 minutes.
Remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
Prepare the Dough:
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle, about 12×16 inches.
Sprinkle the shredded provolone and mozzarella cheese evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
Assemble the Stromboli:
Spoon the steak and vegetable mixture evenly over the cheese layer.
Carefully roll up the dough starting from one of the long edges, tucking in the sides as you go to create a sealed log shape.
Place the stromboli seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
Apply the Egg Wash and Bake:
Brush the beaten egg over the top of the stromboli to give it a golden, shiny finish.
Optionally, sprinkle sesame seeds on top for added texture and flavor.
Use a sharp knife to make a few small slits on top of the stromboli to allow steam to escape.
Bake:
Bake the stromboli in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and crispy.
Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing.
Serve:
Slice the stromboli into thick slices and serve warm with marinara sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
Storage:
Leftover stromboli can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven for best results.
