Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes
Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1 tbsp olive oil
1 large onion, chopped
1 green bell pepper, chopped
1 red bell pepper, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 cup beef broth
2 tbsp ketchup
1 tbsp Dijon mustard
1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp water
Salt and pepper to taste
4 slices provolone cheese
4 hamburger buns, toasted
Directions:
Cook the Beef:
In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking up the meat as it cooks, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
Add Vegetables:
Add chopped onion, green bell pepper, and red bell pepper to the skillet. Cook until the vegetables are softened, about 4-5 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
Make the Sauce:
Stir in Worcestershire sauce, beef broth, ketchup, and Dijon mustard. Mix until everything is well combined.
Thicken the Mixture:
Bring the mixture to a simmer, then stir in the cornstarch mixture. Continue to cook until the sauce has thickened, about 2-3 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Add the Cheese:
Lower the heat and place slices of provolone cheese on top of the meat mixture. Allow the cheese to melt into the mixture, then gently stir to incorporate.
Assemble the Sloppy Joes:
Spoon the beef and vegetable mixture onto the bottom half of each toasted hamburger bun. Top with the other half of the bun.
Serve:
Serve hot with your favorite sides like fries, chips, or a fresh salad.
