Peach Cobbler Baked French Toast
Ingredients:
1 loaf French bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
6 large eggs
2 cups whole milk
1 cup heavy cream
½ cup granulated sugar
¼ cup brown sugar
1 tbsp vanilla extract
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 can (15 oz) sliced peaches in syrup, drained
2 tbsp butter, melted
1 tsp ground nutmeg
Topping:
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp cinnamon
¼ cup butter, cold and cubed
Directions:
Prepare the French Toast Base:
Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Arrange the cubed French bread evenly in the dish.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, brown sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until fully combined. Pour this mixture over the cubed bread, ensuring each piece is coated. Gently press down the bread to absorb the liquid.
Add Peaches:
Scatter the drained peach slices over the top of the soaked bread. Drizzle with melted butter and sprinkle with nutmeg.
Prepare the Topping:
In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the peaches and bread mixture.
Bake:
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 45-50 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the custard is set.
Serve:
Let cool for 10 minutes before serving. Top with maple syrup, whipped cream, or a dusting of powdered sugar for extra sweetness!
