Oyster Sauce Beef and Onion Stir-Fry
Ingredients:
For the Beef Marinade:
1 pound flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
For the Stir-Fry:
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 large onion, thinly sliced
2-3 cloves garlic, minced
1-inch piece of ginger, minced
1/2 cup oyster sauce
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon hoisin sauce (optional)
1/4 cup beef broth or water
1 teaspoon sugar (optional)
2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
Cooked rice or noodles, for serving
Instructions:
Marinate the Beef:
In a bowl, combine the sliced beef with soy sauce, cornstarch, and vegetable oil. Mix well and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
Prepare the Stir-Fry Sauce:
In a small bowl, mix together oyster sauce, soy sauce, hoisin sauce (if using), beef broth or water, and sugar (if using). Set aside.
Cook the Beef:
Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
Add the marinated beef in a single layer and cook for 1-2 minutes on each side, until browned but not fully cooked through. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.
Stir-Fry the Vegetables:
In the same skillet, add a bit more oil if necessary and sauté the sliced onion, garlic, and ginger until the onion becomes translucent and fragrant.
Combine and Finish:
Return the beef to the skillet with the onions and add the stir-fry sauce. Stir well to combine.
Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, until the beef is cooked through and the sauce has thickened.
Serve:
Garnish with chopped green onions.
Serve hot over cooked rice or noodles.
