Oven Fried Chicken

Oven Fried Chicken

Ingredients:
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or bone-in if you prefer)
1 cup buttermilk
1 tablespoon hot sauce (optional)
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
4 tablespoons melted butter or oil spray

Directions:
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil for easy cleanup and place a wire rack on top for the chicken to sit on.
Marinate the Chicken:
In a bowl, mix the buttermilk and hot sauce (if using). Add the chicken breasts and coat them well. Let the chicken marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight for best flavor.
Prepare the Breading:
In a large shallow dish, combine flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, oregano, cayenne pepper, and Parmesan cheese.
Coat the Chicken:
Remove the chicken from the buttermilk and let any excess drip off. Dredge the chicken pieces in the flour mixture, pressing the coating onto the chicken to ensure it sticks well.
Arrange the Chicken:
Place the coated chicken breasts on the wire rack over the baking sheet. Brush or spray the top of each chicken breast with melted butter or oil spray to help with browning.
Bake the Chicken:
Bake the chicken in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes for boneless breasts (or 35-40 minutes for bone-in), flipping halfway through the cooking time. The chicken should be golden and crispy, with an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
Serve:
Let the chicken rest for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy it with your favorite sides!
This method gives you crispy chicken with all the flavor of frying, minus the excess oil!
