Our neighbor left a handwritten note on our car that read, “One car per house!” Soon after, she appeared at our door.

I answered.

She was dressed in a pastel pink cardigan, a matching headband, and white capri pants.

She informed us, “Our HOA—very friendly, but firm—has a rule about cars. Only one car per household in the driveway.”

I stared at her. “One car?”

“Yes,” she said, her voice firmer. “No exceptions. Things stay neat that way.”

Jack replied, “Both cars are on our driveway.”

She gave a small nod. “Rules are rules. One car per household.”

After that, she turned and left.

We didn’t heed the rule. Three days later, both cars were towed.

Running outside, we caught her standing there with a satisfied grin.

ME: “Wow! You actually pulled it off, huh?”

HER: “What’s so funny?!”

ME: “Nothing. Just that YOU OWE US $25,000 NOW.”

HER: (gulping nervously) “What—What do you mean?”

I indicated our car tag and started to laugh. “Guess you overlooked that mark!” ⬇️
