Oreo Mud Pie
Ingredients:
For the Crust:
24 Oreo cookies, crushed into fine crumbs (filling included)
1/4 cup butter, melted
For the Filling:
1 pint (2 cups) chocolate ice cream, slightly softened
1 cup hot fudge sauce, warmed
1 pint (2 cups) coffee or vanilla ice cream, slightly softened
1/2 cup Oreo cookies, crushed (optional for filling texture)
For the Topping:
1 cup heavy whipping cream
2 tablespoons powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup chocolate chips or chocolate shavings (optional for garnish)
Crushed Oreos (for garnish)
Instructions:
1. Make the Oreo Crust:
In a medium bowl, combine the Oreo crumbs and melted butter. Mix until well combined.
Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9-inch pie pan to form the crust. Refrigerate for 30 minutes to firm up.
2. Add the First Layer of Ice Cream:
Once the crust is firm, spread the slightly softened chocolate ice cream over the Oreo crust in an even layer. Freeze for 30 minutes.
3. Add Hot Fudge:
Warm the hot fudge sauce slightly to make it easier to spread, but not too hot. Pour it over the chocolate ice cream layer and spread evenly. Freeze for another 30 minutes.
4. Add the Second Layer of Ice Cream:
Spread the softened coffee or vanilla ice cream (whichever you prefer) over the top of the fudge layer. If you want to add texture, you can fold in some crushed Oreos to this layer. Freeze again for 30 minutes.
5. Make the Whipped Cream Topping:
In a medium bowl, beat the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
6. Assemble and Garnish:
Spread the whipped cream over the top of the frozen ice cream layers.
Garnish with crushed Oreos, chocolate chips, or chocolate shavings as desired.
7. Chill and Serve:
Freeze the entire pie for at least 2 hours or until firm. Before serving, let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes to soften slightly for easier slicing.
