My BIL borrowed my brand-new crossover, left it like a filthy pigsty, and REFUSED to pay to have it detailed — and that same night, he called me, screaming, “How dare you?”
My husband’s brother, Jake, had always been shameless. Anything his brother had, Jake wanted it, too. Their parents always indulged him, and my husband genuinely loved Jake, so he never really confronted Jake about his behavior.
My husband and I had been saving money for three years to get a new car. Our dream was to own a nice crossover. Eventually, we bought one.
Jake arrived almost immediately, checked the car out, and asked:
“Can I borrow it? I’m going to a party tonight, and I’d love to make everyone’s jaws drop.”
I replied instantly:
“But it’s not your car… I’m not okay with that.”
Then my husband came outside and said:
“Honey, why are you acting like that? Let Jake take it. Don’t you remember how we were always showing off something new back in college?”
Jake promptly joined in and added:
“We’re family. Everything that’s yours is MINE too. I’ll be careful, and I’ll bring the car back in the morning, I promise.”
I DIDN’T LIKE that suggestion. Even so, I agreed because my husband asked me.
When Jake pulled into our driveway the next morning, MY JAW DROPPED.
The car was INCREDIBLY DIRTY.
The interior had been turned into a PIGSTY. Alcoholic drinks and soda were spilled over the white interior. Snack wrappers and drink cans were scattered over every surface. The floor mats were smeared with filthy footprints, like nobody had wiped their shoes.
I screamed:
“WHAT IS THIS?”
Jake just shrugged and responded:
“IT’S JUST A CAR. Why are you freaking out? My friends and I drove around the city.”
I immediately told him he would pay to have the car detailed, but he answered that he WOULDN’T GIVE ME A SINGLE CENT because “NOTHING SERIOUS HAPPENED.”
I was stunned into silence.
I had simply had enough. It was time for Jake to learn his lesson.
I called a certain place, placed an order under Jake’s name, and requested that they deliver SOMETHING to his apartment.
That evening, he called me up, screaming:
“No! This can’t be happening! HOW DARE YOU?!” ⬇️
