Mongolian Ground Beef Noodles

Mongolian Ground Beef Noodles

Ingredients:
8 oz noodles (spaghetti, rice noodles, or udon)
1 lb ground beef
1 tbsp vegetable oil (optional, if beef isn’t fatty enough)
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp ginger, minced
1/2 cup soy sauce (low-sodium is preferred)
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tbsp hoisin sauce
1 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tsp chili flakes (optional, for heat)
1/4 cup water
1 tbsp cornstarch (mixed with 2 tbsp water, to thicken the sauce)
1/2 cup green onions, chopped
Sesame seeds (for garnish)
Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions:
Cook the noodles:
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
Brown the ground beef:
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain any excess fat if necessary. Set aside.
Prepare the sauce:
In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, brown sugar, hoisin sauce, oyster sauce, and water. Set aside.
Cook aromatics:
In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and ginger. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
Combine beef and sauce:
Return the browned beef to the skillet and pour the sauce mixture over it. Stir well to combine. Simmer for 3-4 minutes.
Thicken the sauce:
Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook for another minute or until the sauce thickens.
Add the noodles:
Toss in the cooked noodles, ensuring they are well coated with the beef sauce. Stir in the green onions and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
Serve:
Garnish with sesame seeds and extra green onions. Serve hot.
