Mexican Restaurant Cheese Dip
Ingredients:
1 lb white American cheese, shredded or cubed (found in the deli section)
1/2 cup milk (or more for desired consistency)
1/4 cup heavy cream
1 small can (4 oz) diced green chilies, drained
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon cumin
JalapeƱos, diced (optional, for added spice)
Salt, to taste
Instructions:
Melt the Cheese:
In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine the white American cheese and milk. Stir continuously to melt the cheese, being careful not to burn it.
Add Cream and Spices:
Once the cheese has melted, stir in the heavy cream, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, and diced green chilies. Continue stirring until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
Adjust Consistency:
If the dip is too thick, gradually add more milk until you reach your desired consistency. If you want extra heat, stir in some diced jalapeƱos.
Serve:
Pour the cheese dip into a serving bowl and serve warm with tortilla chips, or drizzle over nachos, burritos, or tacos.
