Hot Fudge Pie

Ingredients:
For the Pie:
1 pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup chopped nuts (optional, for added crunch)
For the Whipped Cream (optional):
1 cup heavy cream
2 tablespoons powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions:
Prepare the Pie Crust:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Fit the pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish. Trim and crimp the edges as desired.
Make the Filling:
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, cocoa powder, flour, and salt.
Add the eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Stir until well combined.
If using nuts, fold them into the mixture.
Assemble and Bake:
Pour the chocolate filling into the prepared pie crust, spreading it evenly.
Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the filling is set and the edges are firm but the center is slightly gooey.
Remove from the oven and let the pie cool completely before serving. The filling will continue to set as it cools.
Prepare the Whipped Cream (optional):
In a medium mixing bowl, beat the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
Serve a dollop of whipped cream on top of each slice of pie.
Serve:
Slice the pie into wedges and serve with or without whipped cream.
