Homemade Pizza Rolls Recipe
Ingredients:
1 can (16.3 oz) refrigerated pizza dough or crescent roll dough
1/2 cup pizza sauce
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup mini pepperoni (or chopped pepperoni, cooked sausage, or any toppings you like)
1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
2 tablespoons melted butter
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Optional: Crushed red pepper flakes, garlic powder, or fresh basil for garnish
Instructions:
Step 1: Preheat the Oven
Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.
Step 2: Prepare the Dough
Roll Out the Dough: Roll out the pizza dough (or crescent roll dough) into a large rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick. If using crescent dough, pinch the seams together to make it one continuous sheet.
Step 3: Add the Pizza Filling
Spread the Sauce: Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving about 1/2 inch around the edges.
Add Toppings: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce. Add the mini pepperoni (or other toppings of your choice).
Season: Sprinkle Italian seasoning over the cheese and toppings.
Step 4: Roll and Slice
Roll the Dough: Starting from the longer side of the rectangle, tightly roll the dough into a log, similar to how you would roll cinnamon rolls.
Slice: Using a sharp knife, slice the rolled dough into 1-inch pieces.
Step 5: Bake the Pizza Rolls
Place on Baking Sheet: Arrange the pizza roll slices, cut side up, on the prepared baking sheet.
Brush with Butter: In a small bowl, mix melted butter with Parmesan cheese and brush it over the tops of the pizza rolls.
Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
Step 6: Serve
Cool and Serve: Let the pizza rolls cool slightly before serving. You can garnish with crushed red pepper flakes, garlic powder, or fresh basil for extra flavor.
Serve with Extra Sauce: Serve with extra pizza sauce or marinara sauce for dipping.
