Ground Beef Casserole with Potatoes Recipe

Ingredients:
1 pound ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced (about 4 cups)
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or cheese of your choice)
1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup (or cream of chicken soup)
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon paprika (optional)
1 teaspoon dried thyme or Italian seasoning (optional)
Olive oil (for cooking)

Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare the Ground Beef Mixture
Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Cook Ground Beef: In a large skillet, heat a little olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent.
Add Garlic: Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
Brown the Beef: Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned. Drain excess fat if necessary.
Season: Stir in salt, pepper, paprika, and thyme (if using). Mix well to combine.
Step 2: Prepare the Casserole
Layer the Ingredients: In a greased 9×13-inch casserole dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom.
Add Beef Mixture: Spread the cooked ground beef mixture evenly over the potatoes.
Add Remaining Potatoes: Layer the remaining sliced potatoes on top of the beef.
Mix Sauce: In a bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup and milk until smooth. Pour this mixture over the layered casserole.
Add Cheese: Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top of the casserole.
Step 3: Bake
Cover and Bake: Cover the casserole with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes.
Uncover and Brown: Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Step 4: Serve
Cool Slightly: Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving.
Enjoy: Serve hot, and enjoy this comforting dish with your favorite side salad or bread!
