Ingredients
For the Beef Bites:
-
1 lb (450g) beef steak (sirloin or ribeye), cut into bite-sized cubes
-
2 tbsp olive oil
-
3 tbsp unsalted butter
-
4 cloves garlic, minced
-
1 tsp salt
-
1/2 tsp black pepper
-
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for a hint of heat)
-
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
-
1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
For the Creamy Mashed Potatoes:
-
2 lbs (900g) potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
-
4 tbsp unsalted butter
-
1/2 cup whole milk (or more for desired creaminess)
-
1/4 cup sour cream (optional, for extra creaminess)
-
Salt and pepper, to taste
-
Fresh chives or parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Directions
1. Prepare the Mashed Potatoes
-
Place potato chunks in a large pot and cover with cold water. Add a pinch of salt.
-
Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to medium and simmer for 15–20 minutes, or until potatoes are tender and easily pierced with a fork.
-
Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot.
-
Add butter, milk, and sour cream (if using). Mash until smooth and creamy.
-
Season with salt and pepper to taste. Cover and keep warm while you cook the beef bites.
2. Cook the Beef Bites
-
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
-
Add the beef cubes in a single layer, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Sear for 2–3 minutes on each side until browned. Remove beef and set aside.
-
Reduce heat to medium. Add butter to the same skillet. Once melted, add minced garlic and cook for 30–60 seconds until fragrant.
-
Stir in Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes.
-
Return the beef bites to the skillet and toss to coat in the garlic butter sauce. Cook for an additional 1–2 minutes to ensure beef is heated through.
-
Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley over the beef bites before serving.
3. Serve
-
Spoon a generous portion of creamy mashed potatoes onto each plate.
-
Top with garlic butter beef bites and drizzle any extra pan sauce over the top.
-
Garnish with additional parsley or chives.
