👩🍳 Step-by-Step Instructions
1️⃣ Prepare the Cake
Preheat oven to 180°C / 350°F.
Grease and line two 8-inch (20 cm) round cake pans.
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar.
Add eggs, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla.
Mix until smooth.
Slowly pour in hot coffee (or hot water), mixing gently.
⚠️ Batter will be thin—this is correct!
2️⃣ Bake
Divide batter evenly between pans.
Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
3️⃣ Make the Ganache
Heat heavy cream until hot (not boiling).
Pour over chopped chocolate.
Let sit for 2 minutes, then stir until smooth and glossy.
Let ganache cool slightly until thick but spreadable.
4️⃣ Assemble the Cake
Place one cake layer on a serving plate.
Spread a thick layer of ganache on top.
Place the second layer on top and frost the top and sides with remaining ganache.
✨ For extra drama, let ganache drip down the sides.
5️⃣ Set & Serve
Let cake set at room temperature for 20–30 minutes, or chill briefly for cleaner slices.
