🥓 Fried Cabbage with Shrimp, Sausage & Bacon
A smoky, savory dish that combines crispy bacon, succulent shrimp, savory sausage, and tender cabbage for an irresistible one-pan meal!
Total Time: 30 minutes
Servings: 4
📝 Ingredients:
5 slices bacon, chopped
1/2 cup yellow onions, chopped
3 cups cabbage, cut into thin strips
10–12 shrimp, tail-off and deveined
1 link of kielbasa or smoked sausage, cut into 1/2-inch slices
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp seafood seasoning
1/2 tsp smoked paprika
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
👩🍳 Instructions:
1️⃣ Cook the Bacon
In a large skillet or sauté pan, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy, about 4–5 minutes. Remove the bacon and set it aside, leaving the bacon drippings in the pan.
2️⃣ Sauté the Onions
Add the chopped onions to the pan and sauté for 2–3 minutes, until softened.
3️⃣ Cook the Sausage & Shrimp
Add the sausage slices to the pan and cook for 3–4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sausage begins to brown.
Next, add the shrimp and cook for 2–3 minutes on each side, until the shrimp are pink and cooked through. Remove the shrimp and sausage from the pan and set them aside.
4️⃣ Cook the Cabbage
In the same pan, add the olive oil and cabbage. Season with seafood seasoning and smoked paprika, and cook over medium-high heat for 7–10 minutes, stirring frequently, until the cabbage is tender and slightly crispy on the edges.
5️⃣ Combine Everything
Return the cooked bacon, sausage, and shrimp to the pan. Stir everything together and cook for another 2–3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
6️⃣ Serve
Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired, and serve hot!
🍴 Serving Suggestions:
Serve this dish on its own for a low-carb meal or pair it with some crusty bread for a complete dinner. You can also serve it over rice or pasta if you’d like to stretch the meal further.
📌 Tip:
Feel free to customize the sausage—Andouille sausage or chorizo would work wonderfully for a spicier version!
