French Onion Beef and Noodles
Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1 large onion, thinly sliced
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 cups beef broth
1 can (10.5 oz) condensed French onion soup
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
8 oz egg noodles
1/2 cup sour cream
1 cup shredded mozzarella or Swiss cheese
Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
Directions:
Cook the Beef:
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.
Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks, about 5-7 minutes.
Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
Caramelize the Onions:
In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and cook over medium heat until they are golden brown and caramelized, about 10-15 minutes.
Stir occasionally to avoid burning.
Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
Combine Ingredients:
Return the cooked beef to the skillet with the onions.
Add the beef broth, condensed French onion soup, Worcestershire sauce, dried thyme, and black pepper.
Stir to combine and bring the mixture to a simmer.
Cook the Noodles:
While the beef and onion mixture simmers, cook the egg noodles according to the package instructions.
Drain and set aside.
Finish the Dish:
Once the beef and onion mixture has simmered for 10 minutes, reduce the heat to low.
Stir in the sour cream and shredded cheese, allowing the cheese to melt into the sauce.
Add the cooked egg noodles to the skillet and toss everything together until the noodles are well coated with the sauce.
Serve:
Garnish with chopped parsley if desired and serve the dish warm.
