Dr. Pepper Barbecue Sloppy Joes
Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1 small onion, finely diced
1/2 cup Dr. Pepper
1/2 cup barbecue sauce
1/4 cup ketchup
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp smoked paprika
Salt and pepper, to taste
4 hamburger buns
Optional: shredded cheese or pickles for topping
Directions:
Cook Beef and Onion: In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and diced onion over medium heat until the beef is browned and cooked through, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat if necessary.
Add Seasoning and Sauces: Lower the heat to medium-low and add the Dr. Pepper, barbecue sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir everything together until well combined.
Simmer: Allow the mixture to simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened and the flavors are well incorporated.
Toast Buns (Optional): While the mixture is simmering, lightly toast the hamburger buns in a separate skillet or in a toaster if you prefer a crispier texture.
Assemble: Spoon the sloppy joe mixture onto the toasted buns. Add shredded cheese or pickles if desired.
Serve: Serve the Dr. Pepper Barbecue Sloppy Joes warm with your favorite sides, like fries or a salad.
