Dorito Taco Salad
Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1 packet taco seasoning mix
1 head iceberg lettuce, chopped
2 cups cherry tomatoes, halved
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
1/2 cup sliced black olives
1/4 cup diced red onion
1 cup Catalina dressing (or French dressing)
1 bag (9.75 oz) Nacho Cheese Doritos, crushed
Optional toppings: sour cream, salsa, avocado slices
Directions:
Cook the Ground Beef:
In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until fully browned, breaking it up into crumbles as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.
Add the taco seasoning mix to the cooked beef, along with the amount of water specified on the seasoning packet. Stir well and simmer for about 5 minutes, until the seasoning is fully absorbed. Set aside to cool slightly.
Prepare the Salad Base:
In a large salad bowl, combine the chopped iceberg lettuce, cherry tomatoes, shredded cheddar cheese, kidney beans, black olives, and diced red onion. Toss the ingredients together to mix evenly.
Add the Ground Beef:
Once the ground beef has cooled slightly, add it to the salad mixture. Toss the salad again to distribute the beef evenly throughout.
Add the Dressing:
Pour the Catalina (or French) dressing over the salad mixture. Start with about 3/4 cup and toss the salad to coat. Add more dressing if desired, depending on your preference for how dressed you like your salad.
Add the Doritos:
Just before serving, add the crushed Nacho Cheese Doritos to the salad and toss gently to combine. This will keep the Doritos crunchy.
Serve:
Serve immediately, topped with optional ingredients like sour cream, salsa, or avocado slices if desired.
