Ingredients

For the Cheeseburger Filling

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1 tablespoon ranch seasoning mix

  • ½ cup cooked bacon, finely chopped

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or American cheese

  • Wooden skewers or corn dog sticks

For the Corn Dog Batter

  • 1 cup yellow cornmeal

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • ¼ cup granulated sugar

  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 cup buttermilk

  • 1 large egg

For Frying

  • Vegetable or canola oil, for deep frying

Directions

1️⃣ Prepare the Beef Mixture

In a bowl, combine ground beef, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and ranch seasoning. Mix gently. Fold in chopped bacon and shredded cheese.

Form mixture into hot-dog-shaped logs. Insert a skewer into each and place on a lined tray. Freeze for 20–30 minutes to help them hold shape.

2️⃣ Make the Batter

In a bowl, whisk together cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. In a separate bowl, mix buttermilk and egg. Combine wet and dry ingredients until smooth and thick.

3️⃣ Heat the Oil

Heat oil in a deep pot to 350°F (175°C).

4️⃣ Batter & Fry

Dip each frozen burger dog into the batter, coating evenly. Carefully lower into hot oil.

Fry for 3–4 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and fully cooked.

Remove and drain on paper towels.

5️⃣ Serve

Serve hot with ketchup, ranch dressing, mustard, or burger sauce.
