Ingredients
-
4 large apples, peeled, cored, and diced
-
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
-
¼ cup brown sugar
-
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional but recommended)
-
½ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
-
Pinch of salt
Directions
1️⃣ Prepare the Apples
Peel, core, and dice the apples into bite-sized pieces. Try to keep them evenly sized so they cook at the same rate.
2️⃣ Cook the Apples
In a large skillet or saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the diced apples and sauté for 4–5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they begin to soften.
3️⃣ Add the Sweetness
Sprinkle in the brown sugar, cinnamon (if using), and a pinch of salt. Stir well to coat the apples. Reduce heat to medium-low and cook for 8–10 minutes, stirring often, until the apples are tender and the sauce becomes thick and glossy.
4️⃣ Finish & Serve
Stir in vanilla extract, if using, and remove from heat. Let cool slightly before serving warm.
