Crockpot French Dip Sandwich
Ingredients:
3-4 lb beef chuck roast
1 packet (1 oz) dry onion soup mix
1 packet (1 oz) au jus gravy mix
1 can (10.5 oz) beef broth
1 can (10.5 oz) condensed French onion soup
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 teaspoon black pepper
6-8 hoagie rolls or French bread
6-8 slices provolone cheese
Optional: butter for toasting bread
For the Au Jus Dipping Sauce:
Juices from the slow cooker
Additional beef broth (optional, to thin sauce if needed)
Directions:
Prepare the Beef:
In a slow cooker, place the beef chuck roast.
Sprinkle the dry onion soup mix, au jus gravy mix, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper over the roast.
Pour in the beef broth, French onion soup, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce.
Cook the Beef:
Cover the slow cooker and cook on Low for 7-8 hours or on High for 4-5 hours, until the beef is tender and easily pulls apart with a fork.
Shred the Beef:
Once the beef is fully cooked, remove it from the slow cooker and shred it with two forks.
Strain the remaining cooking liquid to remove any fat or chunks and reserve the broth for dipping.
Assemble the Sandwiches:
Slice the hoagie rolls or French bread and lightly butter the insides if desired.
Toast the bread under the broiler for a few minutes until golden brown.
Place a generous portion of shredded beef on each roll and top with a slice of provolone cheese.
Return the sandwiches to the broiler for 1-2 minutes to melt the cheese.
Serve with Au Jus:
Serve the sandwiches hot with a small bowl of the reserved au jus dipping sauce on the side for each sandwich.
Dip each bite of the sandwich into the flavorful broth for the perfect French Dip experience.
