Crockpot Apple Butter

Crockpot Apple Butter

Ingredients:
6 cups peeled, cored, and chopped apples (about 6-8 medium apples, such as Fuji, Honeycrisp, or Gala)
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground cloves
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup water

Directions:
Prepare the Apples:
Peel, core, and chop the apples into small pieces.
Combine Ingredients:
In the slow cooker, combine the chopped apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, salt, and water.
Stir well to coat the apples with the spices and sugars.
Cook the Apple Butter:
Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours, or until the apples are very soft and the mixture has thickened. You can also cook on high for 4-5 hours if you’re short on time.
Stir occasionally to ensure the apple butter cooks evenly and doesn’t stick to the sides of the slow cooker.
Blend the Mixture:
Once the apples are soft and the mixture has thickened, use an immersion blender to blend the apple butter until smooth.
If you don’t have an immersion blender, carefully transfer the mixture in batches to a regular blender, then return it to the slow cooker.
Cook Down:
Continue to cook on low for an additional 1-2 hours to further thicken the apple butter if needed. Stir occasionally.
Cool and Store:
Allow the apple butter to cool before transferring it to sterilized jars or containers.
Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks or in the freezer for up to 6 months.
