Corned beef

Corned beef (I’ve used a recipe mum gave me, not sure if there is a similar one online) she changed it from an old cook book to suit crockpot/slow cookers. I’m aware you can’t get all the types of meats listed below everywhere anymore just thought I’d type out the whole recipe anyway 🙂
Boiled salted meat
– choose your meat (silverside, beef brisket, leg of lamb or shoulder of lamb, boned and rolled pickled pork. We used beef silverside from woolies)
– wash the meat to remove excess salt
– place in slow cooker
– cover the meat with cold water
Add
– 4 peppercorns
– 1 tablespoon vinegar
– 1 tablespoon brown sugar
– 1 bay leaf
Leave on low. Monitor water (our slow cooker seems to actually lose some water so we top some up if need be)
Serve with whatever veggies (I love cabbage and bacon with corned beef)
