Cook Time: 35–40 minutes
Total Time: ~50 minutes
This cake is known for its ultra-creamy interior and slightly chewy, caramelized top. The sweetened condensed milk gives it a unique texture between a cake and a flan—dense yet tender.
🧁 Ingredients:
3 large eggs
1 cup (120 g) all-purpose flour
1 can (14 oz / 400 g) sweetened condensed milk
1/2 cup (120 ml) whole milk
1/4 cup (60 g) unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp baking powder
Optional: pinch of salt
🔪 Instructions:
1. Preheat Oven & Prepare Pan
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease and flour an 8-inch round or square baking pan, or line with parchment paper.
2. Mix Wet Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, sweetened condensed milk, regular milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth and fully combined.
3. Add Dry Ingredients
Sift in the flour and baking powder. Add a pinch of salt if desired. Mix until just combined. The batter will be thick and glossy.
4. Pour & Bake
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and tap the pan gently on the counter to remove any bubbles.
Bake for 35–40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean and the top is golden and slightly caramelized.
5. Cool & Serve
Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10–15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Slice and serve plain or with a dusting of powdered sugar, fresh fruit, or a dollop of whipped cream.
✅ Tips & Notes:
Texture Tip: This cake is meant to be dense, almost custardy. Don’t expect a fluffy sponge cake texture—it’s more like a cross between cake and flan.
Flavor Boost: Add 1/2 tsp ground cardamom, a dash of cinnamon, or lemon zest for extra flavor.
Milk Substitute: You can use evaporated milk or plant-based milk (like almond or oat milk) instead of whole milk, though flavor and richness may vary slightly.
Storage: Keep covered at room temperature for 1 day or refrigerate for up to 4 days. Best enjoyed slightly chilled or at room temp.
Topping Ideas: Try drizzling with caramel, chocolate sauce, or serving with ice cream for a richer dessert experience.
🍴 Serving Suggestions:
Serve chilled for a more flan-like experience.
Pair with coffee or chai tea.
Turn it into a dessert plate with berries and mint on top.
