Ingredients
-
2 cans (12.4 oz each) refrigerated cinnamon rolls with icing
-
6 large eggs
-
¾ cup milk
-
1 tsp vanilla extract
-
1 tsp ground cinnamon
-
¼ tsp salt
-
½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
-
Maple syrup, for serving
Directions
1. Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish lightly with butter or nonstick spray.
2. Prepare Cinnamon Rolls
Cut each cinnamon roll into quarters (or halves for larger chunks). Spread the pieces evenly in the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle chopped pecans or walnuts over the top if using.
3. Whisk the Custard
In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until smooth. This custard will soak into the cinnamon rolls, creating a soft, French toast-like texture.
4. Pour Custard Over Rolls
Slowly pour the egg mixture evenly over the cinnamon roll pieces, making sure all the chunks are coated. Press lightly with a spatula to ensure the custard seeps into every piece.
5. Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for 35–40 minutes, or until the cinnamon rolls are puffed, golden brown, and set in the center.
6. Add Icing
While the bake is still warm, drizzle the icing from the cinnamon roll cans over the top. The heat from the bake will melt it slightly, creating a sweet glaze.
7. Serve
Cut into squares and serve warm with maple syrup on the side. For extra indulgence, top with whipped cream or fresh berries.
