Cinna-Bun Cake
Ingredients:
For the Cake:
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar
4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 cups milk
2 large eggs
2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
For the Cinnamon Swirl:
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup brown sugar, packed
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
1 tbsp ground cinnamon
For the Glaze:
2 cups powdered sugar
5 tbsp milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
Directions:
Prepare the Cake Batter:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Add the milk, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
Slowly stir in the melted butter until the batter is smooth.
Make the Cinnamon Swirl:
In a separate bowl, mix together the softened butter, brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon until well combined.
Drop spoonfuls of the cinnamon mixture over the cake batter in the baking dish. Use a knife or a spatula to swirl the cinnamon mixture through the batter.
Bake the Cake:
Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Prepare the Glaze:
While the cake is baking, make the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Glaze the Cake:
Once the cake is done baking, remove it from the oven and immediately pour the glaze over the hot cake. Use a spatula to spread it evenly over the top.
Serve:
Allow the cake to cool slightly before cutting it into squares. Serve warm or at room temperature.
