Churros Poppers

Churros Poppers
Ingredients:
1 cup water
2 1/2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Vegetable oil, for frying
1/2 cup sugar (for coating)
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for coating)
Chocolate or caramel sauce (optional, for dipping)
Directions:
Prepare the Dough:
In a medium saucepan, combine water, 2 1/2 tablespoons of sugar, salt, and butter. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
Once the mixture reaches a boil, remove from heat and immediately add the flour. Stir vigorously until the mixture forms a dough and pulls away from the sides of the pan.
Incorporate Egg and Vanilla:
Allow the dough to cool for a few minutes, then add the egg and vanilla extract. Stir until the egg is fully incorporated, and the dough is smooth and slightly sticky.
Heat the Oil:
In a deep pot or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). You’ll need enough oil to cover the churro poppers as they fry.
Form the Poppers:
Using a piping bag fitted with a large star tip (or simply using a spoon), pipe or scoop small balls of dough onto a piece of parchment paper.
Fry the Poppers:
Carefully drop the dough balls into the hot oil, frying in small batches. Fry for 2-3 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove the poppers from the oil, and drain them on a paper towel-lined plate.
Coat with Cinnamon Sugar:
In a shallow bowl, combine 1/2 cup of sugar and the ground cinnamon. Roll the warm churro poppers in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until fully coated.
Serve:
Serve the churro poppers warm with a side of chocolate or caramel sauce for dipping, if desired.
