🍞 Churro Stuffed French Toast with Cinnamon Sugar
🧂 Ingredients
For the French Toast:
8 slices thick-cut brioche bread
4 large eggs
1 cup whole milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
½ tsp ground cinnamon
Pinch of salt
For the Filling (choose one or mix!):
Cream cheese + a little powdered sugar and vanilla
or
Nutella
or
Dulce de leche
For the Cinnamon Sugar Coating:
½ cup granulated sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
2 tbsp butter, for frying
👩🍳 Instructions
Prep the filling: In a small bowl, mix 4 oz cream cheese with 2 tbsp powdered sugar and ½ tsp vanilla (or use Nutella or dulce de leche as is). Spread a generous amount between 2 slices of bread to make 4 “sandwiches.”
Make the egg custard: In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt.
Soak the sandwiches: Dip each sandwich into the egg mixture, letting it soak for a few seconds on each side.
Cook: In a large skillet or griddle over medium heat, melt butter. Cook each sandwich for 2–3 minutes per side or until golden brown and cooked through.
Cinnamon sugar time: Mix the sugar and cinnamon in a shallow plate. While the French toast is still warm, dredge each sandwich in the cinnamon sugar to coat evenly.
💡 Tips:
Slice diagonally and serve with whipped cream, berries, or a drizzle of maple syrup or caramel.
