Cheesy Hamburger Potato Casserole Recipe
Ingredients:
1 pound ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
4-5 medium potatoes, thinly sliced (about 4 cups)
1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup (or homemade)
1 cup milk
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon paprika (optional)
Chopped parsley (for garnish, optional)
Instructions:
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Cook the Ground Beef:
In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef, chopped onion, and minced garlic. Cook until the beef is browned and cooked through, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain any excess grease.
Prepare the Potato Mixture:
In a large bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika (if using). Mix well.
Add the thinly sliced potatoes to the bowl and stir until they are well coated with the soup mixture.
Assemble the Casserole:
In a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, layer half of the potato mixture on the bottom.
Spread the cooked ground beef evenly over the potatoes.
Top with half of the shredded cheddar cheese.
Add the remaining potato mixture on top, followed by the rest of the cheese.
Bake:
Cover the casserole with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly and golden.
Serve:
Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
