Cheesy Breakfast Sausage Pinwheels

Cheesy Breakfast Sausage Pinwheels

Ingredients:
1 pound breakfast sausage (mild or spicy, as preferred)
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup chopped green onions (optional)
1 package (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon paprika (optional)
Cooking spray or parchment paper for baking

Directions:
Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with cooking spray.
Cook Sausage: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage until browned and fully cooked, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks. Drain any excess grease and let it cool slightly.
Mix Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked sausage, shredded cheddar cheese, cream cheese, chopped green onions (if using), garlic powder, black pepper, and paprika. Mix until well combined.
Prepare Crescent Dough: Unroll the crescent roll dough on a clean, flat surface. Pinch the seams together to create a single rectangle or roll it out to a larger rectangle with a rolling pin.
Spread Filling: Spread the sausage and cheese mixture evenly over the crescent dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
Roll and Cut: Starting from one end, carefully roll the dough into a tight log. Once rolled, use a sharp knife or pizza cutter to slice the log into 1-inch pinwheels.
Arrange on Baking Sheet: Place the pinwheels on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the pinwheels are golden brown and puffed.
Serve: Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Serve warm as a delicious breakfast or brunch option.
