Ingredients

Beef Filling

  • 1.5 lbs lean ground beef

  • 1 yellow onion, diced

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning

  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup

  • 1 cup beef broth

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Biscuit Topping

  • 1 box Cheddar Bay biscuit mix

  • Ingredients listed on box (usually milk, cheese packet, butter)

Optional Add-Ins

  • 1 cup frozen peas or corn

  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes for heat

Directions

1️⃣ Cook the Beef

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and diced onion until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess grease if needed.

2️⃣ Build the Filling

Add garlic, salt, pepper, paprika, and Italian seasoning. Stir for 30 seconds until fragrant.
Mix in cream of mushroom soup and beef broth. Simmer for 3–5 minutes until slightly thickened.

3️⃣ Assemble the Cobbler

Spread the beef mixture evenly into a greased 9×13 baking dish.
Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.

4️⃣ Add Biscuit Topping

Prepare Cheddar Bay biscuit mix according to package instructions.
Drop spoonfuls evenly over the beef mixture (don’t spread—it bakes best this way).

5️⃣ Bake

Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes, until biscuits are golden brown and the filling is bubbling.

6️⃣ Finish & Serve

Brush biscuits with melted butter and the seasoning packet from the mix.
Let rest 5–10 minutes before serving.
