Caramelized Chicken Wings Recipe

Caramelized Chicken Wings Recipe

Ingredients:
2 pounds chicken wings, split and tips removed
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1/4 cup honey
1/4 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional, for a bit of heat)
1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
Chopped green onions (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:
Prepare the marinade:
In a bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, ketchup, rice vinegar, minced garlic, black pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes (if using).
Marinate the chicken wings:
Place the chicken wings in a large resealable bag or bowl, and pour the marinade over them. Seal the bag or cover the bowl, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results, turning occasionally.
Preheat the oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top. This will help the wings cook evenly and allow excess marinade to drip off.
Bake the wings:
Arrange the marinated wings on the wire rack, reserving any leftover marinade. Bake for 25-30 minutes, basting with the reserved marinade halfway through.
Caramelize the wings:
Increase the oven temperature to 425°F (220°C) and continue baking for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the wings are golden brown and caramelized, flipping them once for even cooking.
Garnish and serve:
Remove the wings from the oven and sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions, if desired. Serve hot.
