Caramel Pretzel Crack Bars

Caramel Pretzel Crack Bars

Ingredients:
4 cups mini pretzels (lightly crushed)
1 cup unsalted butter
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
Sea salt (optional, for garnish)

Directions:
Prepare Baking Sheet:
Line a 9×13-inch baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil. Lightly grease it with nonstick spray and arrange the crushed pretzels evenly in a single layer.
Make the Caramel:
In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the brown sugar and stir continuously. Bring the mixture to a boil and let it cook for 3-4 minutes, until it thickens and becomes a smooth caramel. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
Pour Caramel Over Pretzels:
Carefully pour the caramel evenly over the crushed pretzels, using a spatula to spread it out so the pretzels are fully covered.
Bake:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the caramel pretzels for about 10 minutes, or until the caramel is bubbling.
Add Chocolate Chips:
Remove the baking sheet from the oven and immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the hot caramel. Let the chocolate sit for 2-3 minutes to soften, then use a spatula to spread the melted chocolate over the top in a smooth layer.
Garnish & Cool:
For an extra touch, sprinkle sea salt over the top of the chocolate layer (optional). Allow the bars to cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes, then transfer to the refrigerator to fully set (about 1-2 hours).
Break Into Bars:
Once the chocolate is fully set, lift the bars from the baking sheet using the parchment paper and break into pieces.
Serve & Enjoy:
These bars are best served chilled or at room temperature. Store them in an airtight container for up to a week.
