📝 Ingredients

For the Cookie Dough

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened

  • ½ cup granulated sugar

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • ½ tsp baking powder

  • ¼ tsp salt

For the Cream Filling

  • ½ cup vanilla custard (store-bought or homemade pastry cream)

For the Chocolate Topping

  • ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • ¼ cup heavy cream

  • 1 tbsp butter (optional, for shine)

👩‍🍳 Directions

1. Prepare the Cookie Dough

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.

In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until combined. The dough should be soft but not sticky.

2. Shape & Bake

Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll into balls. Place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing about 2 inches apart.

Bake for 10–12 minutes, until the edges are lightly golden but centers remain soft. Remove from the oven and immediately press a small indentation into the center of each cookie using the back of a spoon or thumb.

Let cookies cool completely.

3. Fill with Custard

Once cooled, spoon or pipe vanilla custard into the center of each cookie indentation. Chill the filled cookies for 15–20 minutes to help the custard set.

4. Make the Chocolate Glaze

Heat the heavy cream until just simmering (do not boil). Pour over the chocolate chips and let sit for 1 minute. Stir until smooth and glossy. Add butter if using.

Spoon chocolate glaze over the custard-filled centers, allowing it to slightly drip over the edges.
