Before the plane touched down, my sister messaged me: “Did your mother-in-law seriously post your vacation already?”
With a sigh, I looked at my phone.
“What?”
Jake glanced from the seat beside me.
“Everything okay?”
I showed him the screen.
“Your mom posted our vacation.”
He frowned, surprised.
“No way.”
The wild part?
Before leaving, I laughed and told her,
“Promise me you won’t post anything until we’re home.”
She smiled fondly.
“Of course. They’re your memories first.”
I took her for her word.
I went to Facebook.
There it was – an entire album.
She’d uploaded many photos while the plane was in the air.
Family members commented already.
“Beautiful couple!”
“Looks like the perfect trip!”
“Thanks for sharing!”
Tension formed in my stomach.
Some photos were harmless.
Probably images I’d share myself eventually.
But others…
Me passed out on the beach.
Jake with a silly breakfast face.
Private moments not meant for the world.
I messaged her quickly.
Me: Why would you post these before asking us?
The Seen indicator appeared shortly after.
Nothing came back.
I tried again.
Me: Can you please take them down until we get home?
This time she replied.
MIL: Oh, sweetheart, don’t be so dramatic. Everyone wanted to see your trip.
I gazed at the phone.
Jake barely reacted.
“Just leave it for now.”
That surprised me.
Normally he’d put his mom in check immediately.
Instead…
He didn’t seem to care.
I tried to maintain my annoyance.
Scrolling the album, I noted which ones should go.
Halfway through, a certain photo made me stop.
At first, I couldn’t say why.
Then I zoomed in. ⬇️
