Banana Bread Chocolate Chip Cookies

Banana Bread Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients:
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon cinnamon
½ cup unsalted butter, softened
½ cup granulated sugar
¼ cup brown sugar, packed
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ cup mashed ripe bananas (about 1 large banana)
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
½ cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Directions:
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
Mix the Dry Ingredients:
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Set aside.
Cream the Butter and Sugars:
In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
Add the Wet Ingredients:
Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until combined. Then, mix in the mashed banana until fully incorporated.
Combine Wet and Dry:
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined. Be careful not to overmix.
Fold in Chocolate Chips (and Nuts):
Stir in the chocolate chips and walnuts, if using, until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
Scoop and Bake:
Drop spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Each cookie should be about 1 tablespoon of dough.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are set.
Cool:
Remove the cookies from the oven and allow them to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Prep Time: 15 minutes | Cook Time: 12 minutes | Total Time: 30 minutes
Servings: Makes about 24 cookies
