Baked Apples

Baked Apples

Ingredients:
– 4 large apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
– 1/4 cup brown sugar
– 1/4 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
– 1/4 cup raisins or dried cranberries
– 1 tsp ground cinnamon
– 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
– 2 tbsp butter, cut into small pieces
– 1/2 cup apple juice or water

Instructions:
1. **Preheat Oven:** Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. **Prepare Apples:** Core the apples, leaving the bottom intact to create a well for the filling. You can use an apple corer or a small knife.
3. **Make Filling:** In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, chopped nuts, raisins or dried cranberries, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Mix well.
4. **Stuff Apples:** Place the apples in a baking dish. Fill each apple with the sugar-nut mixture, pressing it down gently. Top each apple with a small piece of butter.
5. **Add Liquid:** Pour the apple juice or water into the bottom of the baking dish to help steam the apples as they bake.
6. **Bake:** Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes, or until the apples are tender when pierced with a fork.
7. **Serve:** Serve the baked apples warm, with a drizzle of the sauce from the bottom of the baking dish. You can also top them with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream if desired.
