Apple Praline Bread Recipe
Ingredients:
For the Bread:
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 cup sour cream or plain Greek yogurt
1 1/2 cups peeled and diced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work well)
1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)
For the Praline Glaze:
1/4 cup unsalted butter
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon heavy cream or milk
1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)
Instructions:
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan, or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
Prepare the Bread Batter:
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the sour cream (or Greek yogurt), beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
Fold in the diced apples and chopped pecans (if using) until evenly distributed.
Bake the Bread:
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let the bread cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Prepare the Praline Glaze:
While the bread cools, make the praline glaze. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the brown sugar and heavy cream, and bring to a gentle boil. Cook, stirring constantly, for about 2 minutes.
Remove the glaze from heat and stir in the chopped pecans (if using). Let it cool for a couple of minutes to thicken slightly.
Glaze the Bread:
Once the bread has cooled, pour the warm praline glaze over the top, letting it drizzle down the sides.
Cool and Serve:
Allow the glaze to set before slicing and serving. Enjoy!
