Amish Onion Fritters

Amish Onion Fritters
Crispy, savory fritters made with sweet onions and seasoned perfectly for a crunchy bite every time!

Ingredients:
For the Fritters:

2 large onions, thinly sliced

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions:
Prepare the onions:
Thinly slice the onions and separate the rings. Place them in a large bowl and set aside.

Mix the dry ingredients:
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.

Coat the onions:
Add the sliced onions to the dry ingredients and toss them well to coat the onion rings with the flour mixture.

Fry the fritters:
Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or frying pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot (around 350°F), carefully drop spoonfuls of the onion mixture into the hot oil. Flatten them slightly with a spatula to form fritters.

Cook until golden:
Fry the fritters for 2–3 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Serve and enjoy:
Serve the onion fritters warm with your favorite dipping sauce, like ranch, honey mustard, or marinara.

💡 Tips:
If you like a spicier version, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the flour mixture.

You can make the batter a little thicker by adding an extra tablespoon of flour if you prefer chunkier fritters.

For extra crunch, double-coat the onions by dipping them in the flour mixture, then in a beaten egg, and again in the flour.
