Amish Country Casserole Recipe

Ingredients:
1 pound ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
1 can (15 ounces) diced tomatoes
1 cup sour cream
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
Salt and pepper, to taste
8 ounces egg noodles, cooked according to package instructions
Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:
Preheat Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Cook the Ground Beef:
In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
Saute Onions and Garlic:
Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the cooked ground beef. Cook until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
Prepare the Sauce:
Stir in the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes (with juices), dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Combine Ingredients:
In a large bowl, combine the cooked egg noodles, sour cream, and 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese. Mix well.
Assemble the Casserole:
Spread half of the noodle mixture into the prepared baking dish. Top with half of the meat sauce.
Repeat layers with the remaining noodle mixture and meat sauce.
Add Cheese and Bake:
Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top of the casserole.
Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Serve:
Remove from the oven and let the casserole rest for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired.
